Sr. Alma Stoup was born to John and Mary Kelly Stoup and given the name Veronica at her baptism. Veronica was one of eight children, two boys and six girls. She entered St. Walburg Monastery on June 7, 1918 and received the habit and a new name on December 31, 1920. Sr. Alma made first profession on February 10, 1920 and final profession on February 8, 1923. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee on June 27, 1945; Golden on June 13, 1970 and Diamond on June 7, 1980.
For many years Sr. Alma served the community as cook and housekeeper at the following missions:
- Holy Cross 1951-55; 1967-69
- St. Benedict 1955-57
- St. Therese 1957-60
- Blessed Sacrament 1960-67
Sr. Alma served in various capacities at the monastery–in the laundry and as portress. She retired in 1977 and died on September 8, 1983.
